At Santa Cruz

Its Angus Again
After leaving Monterey on the way to San Francisco we decided to spend half a day in Santa Cruz, a large town about half way through our drive. When we got there we walked out on a long pier that had restaurants and souvenir shops. About half way down the pier there was a small flight of stairs leading down to a viewing platform. Underneath the platform a pontoon was sitting on the water and it was covered in seals. They were barking and fighting with each other and we were just above it. After that we went for a walk through an amusement park that was closed for the day. Unfortunately it had closed just the day before. If only we had planned our trip one day earlier.

After that we decided to go to a lookout that showed all the way out to the ocean. Around the same lookout there was this long line of massive boulders that led to a cliff face. The hardest thing about climbing them was to judge when the wave was going to smash against the rocks. I did the rocks 3 times. The last thing we did at Santa Cruz is go for a swim in freezing cold water. That beach had the coldest water I had ever experienced. When you stood there it made your legs numb.

At the moment we are in San Francisco. Check in later.
Thanks to everyone for commenting and I hope you're all well.

Has been great fun reading about your trip Angus! Disneyland sounds amazing and it was good getting your opinion on the best rides! You both look absolutely FROZEN swimming in that water! Loved the picnic at the top of the cliff.
Has been a busy week at school. I took my Yr 1's to Urangan Pt for the Infant Sports Carnival...I think we have some champions in the making. I was in charge of long jump and the kids were very funny as most had never done it before. They all wanted blue stickers (of course!) and so they would land in the "yellow sticker" section but then take a few steps up to the "blue sticker" area and announce really excitedly "I got a blue sticker!!!" It was very funny and some tried to argue the point as well! We have our Culture of Thinking week next week and of course Rewards Day....but your trip is infinitely more exciting!! Love Mrs Mahony

Hi Giaan,
We arrived back from camp on Wednesday and had an absolute ball. The highlight of the camp was: Jakob and Mr Hedges enjoyed the food - I have to admit it was pretty awesome; Liam, Connor, Jack, Emily, Matt, Ben, Gracey, Lachlan, Terrell and Kate all loved the 15 metre water slide. I was the life guard LOL relaxing at the bottom; Jasper and James enjoyed the canoeing; Katrina and Anjee enjoyed swimming in the lake with the very hungry turtles (just kidding - but we did feed turtles every morning); and Jordan, Lily, Charlie and Kiara enjoyed all aspects of Bucca Retreat. We have just checked out what you have been up to - sounds like you are having a wonderful time. We have viewed your photo's they are great. Well one week to go for us back here at school. Rewards day is Tuesday and we are off to Laser Tag and Ten Pin Bowling should be a blast. I might even roll myself down the lane - just kidding. Please keep us informed of your adventures and update your photos. We will check in for the last time before the holidays next week. Love to your family. Talk next week :)
